Prosecutors rebuff Mangano claims that evidence was withheld

CENTRAL ISLIP -

Federal prosecutors have released a 48-page rebuttal as to why a judge should not dismiss charges against former Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and his wife, Linda.

News 12 reported that an attorney for Ed Mangano called for the federal corruption case to be dismissed.

They claimed prosecutors hid evidence and concealed witnesses.

The rebuttal form the U.S. Attorney's Office says Mangano’s claims are meritless, and that it did not and would not withhold any information.

The couple’s retrial is set to begin Thursday.
