Police: Drunk driver crashes at stroke of midnight

CORAM -

Suffolk police didn’t have to wait long to make an arrest in the new year after they say a woman flipped her car while drunk in Coram just after the stroke of midnight.

Police say Marta Garcia Ochoa flipped her Volkswagen on to its roof on Route 112 at Middle Country Road.

Garcia Ochoa, 31, from Ronkonkoma, was not seriously hurt. She was taken into custody and charged with DWI.

Police say the woman has a previous DWI conviction, so she's also charged with Use of a Vehicle without an Interlock Device.

The judge set her bail at $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.

Suffolk police made nine DWI arrests on New Year's Eve; Nassau police made 15.
