Freeport school board VP accused of driving drunk, hitting parked cars

The vice president of the Freeport school board is accused of driving drunk and hitting parked cars.
Anthony Miller, 36, was arraigned Thursday in Hempstead court on charges that include DWI and leaving the scene of an accident.
According to court documents, one of the incidents happened around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on North Ocean Avenue in Freeport. Surveillance video shows a Ford Edge rear-ending a parked car, causing a chain-reaction crash.
Before that, police say Miller hit another car about a mile away and fled, drove at a high rate of speed and blew through stop signs. That crash happened at the corner of South Bayview Avenue and Sunrise Highway.
Police say he had a blood alcohol level of 0.2 -- 2 1/2 times the legal limit.
Court documents say Miller was driving with a suspended registration and license, and no insurance. He is due back in court Jan. 11.
The Freeport School District declined to comment.
