Free event brings Brooklyn families to Abe Stark Skating Rink

Brooklyn residents are skating into the new year at Coney Island.
The annual free family ice skating event at the Abe Stark Skating Rink in Coney Island has been an annual tradition for more than a decade.
Parents and kids were invited Wednesday to glide around the rink as Christmas tunes rang loud, all while sipping on complimentary hot cocoa and eating cookies.
Nearly 250 people showed up for the event.
Elected officials, including Borough President Eric Adams, and the Coney Island Alliance, co-sponsored the event.
The event will be open to the public again Thursday morning.
The holiday festivities don’t stop there – the borough president is also co-sponsoring two New Year’s Eve celebrations, including one at the Steeplechase Plaza and another at the Grand Army Plaza.
