Police say they arrested a Deer Park man who robbed two Suffolk County gas stations at knifepoint and stabbed one of the clerks.
They say 50-year-old Victor Carlton can be seen in surveillance video stabbing a clerk in the hand and stomach until money was handed over. That robbery happened Dec. 14 at the Conoco gas station on Middle Country Road in Lake Grove.
Police also say Carlton robbed a Sunoco station in Deer Park at knifepoint. One of the attendants says the clerk working at the time of the robbery has since quit and found a new job.
A third gas station robbery was reported on Wheeler Road in Hauppauge. Police say they believed the same suspect was behind all three incidents, but Carlton has not been charged in the Hauppauge robbery.
Carlton was arrested Sunday and appeared in court Monday. He was held on more than $600,000 bond.
Prosecutors said in court Monday that Carlton is a career criminal with at least 12 convictions and that he was out on parole.
