Teen hockey player diagnosed with brain tumor returns to the ice

A teenage Bethpage hockey player made a surprise return to the ice Wednesday night.
Cheers erupted from the crowd when they learned Derek Zacchino had been added to the roster. The 17-year-old had been benched since September, when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Zacchino's father got the all-clear call from the doctors Wednesday afternoon. Zacchino says he was having lunch with friends when found out.
Wednesday's matchup just happened to be the Stick it to Cancer benefit game in honor of Zacchino. The proceeds will go to Cohen Children's Medical Center, where he was treated.
