Teen found guilty in assault that injured NYPD detective from LI

The teen who seriously injured an NYPD detective from North Baldwin has been convicted.
Justin Murrella, 17, of Brooklyn, was convicted of first-degree assault on Monday. However, Murrella was acquitted of the more serious attempted murder charge.
Prosecutors say Murrella sped away in a stolen car dragging Det. Dalsh Veve for several blocks.
The 2017 incident in Brooklyn left the detective with brain damage and needing 24-hour care.
Murrella faces up to 10 years in prison when he's sentenced in January.
