The Suffolk County chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle club bought a vacant church in Centereach.
Town of Brookhaven officials say the group purchased the abandoned church on Lynbrook Street. The club installed a big, brightly lit sign on its new home.
Residents living near the church say they intimidated by the group's notorious reputation and that they don't believe the bikers belong in a residential neighborhood.
News 12 spoke with a Hells Angels member who said the group plans on using the church as a clubhouse and a place to worship their own religion.
Since moving in about two weeks ago, neighbors say the Hells Angels installed a padlocked, chain-link fence around the property.
Town officials say despite neighbors' concerns, they can't prevent the group from using the site, as long as its member follow town codes.
