An apartment building fire Monday in Hempstead forced some residents out of their homes.
The Hempstead fire chief says it was a small fire that traveled from a first-floor apartment up to the second floor. It was reported just before 5 p.m. at one of the Hofstra Gardens apartment buildings at 621 Front St. Multiple fire departments responded to the scene.
No injuries have been reported.
The fire chief says most tenants were able to return home, although it wasn't known if those living in the three affected units will be able to go back.
News 12 is told that the fire marshal has been notified. The cause remains under investigation.
