Police: Greenport football captain injured in shooting; 4 in custody

An 18-year-old male who's the captain of the Greepoint High School football team was shot early Friday morning, according to police.
Southold police say the high school senior was shot around 1 a.m. near the Lakeside Garden Apartments on North Street in Greenport. Four people were taken into custody.
Police say the shooting was targeted but did not identify the victim or provide a possible motive.
He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where his family and coach were by his side.
The coach told News 12 over the phone that the victim was shot in the abdomen. He was conscious and talking by Friday afternoon.
