A patient attacked two nurses in a wild rampage Tuesday afternoon inside the emergency department at St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, sources tell News 12 Long Island.
Following the incident, witnesses say the barefoot man wearing a hospital gown ran to the Zorn's construction site next door.
Crews on scene at the time say the patient tried to escape in a white truck that was open. News 12 is told that a crew member named Fred tried to stop the escapee by blocking the exit with his truck. The patient then crashed into the truck.
A police officer used a Taser on the patient and took him out of the vehicle.
There was no word on what charges the patient will face.
News 12's calls to the hospital for comment were not immediately returned.
