Police are searching for a man they say is responsible for robbing and raping a 27-year-old woman in Mott Haven on Sunday.

Officials say the woman was walking near Saint Ann's Avenue and East 135th Street when the suspect approached her and gestured as if he had a firearm. The suspect then forced the woman into a nearby building where he reportedly forced her to perform a sexual act, raped her, then stole $40 in cash before running off.

The victim was treated at NYC Health + Hospitals and released.
