MTA proposes more toll and fare hikes

The MTA is proposing yet another toll and fare hike.
There are two options proposed for subways and buses.
The first proposal would keep the base fare at $2.75, but eliminate the 5 percent bonus.
The second proposal would increase the base fare to $3, but would also increase the bonus to 10 percent.
An unlimited 30-day MetroCard currently costs $121. Under both plans, that cost would jump up to $127.
The agency also announced it needs to increase toll prices. There are two options for this as well.
The first calls for a 4 percent increase for E-ZPass users. The other is an 8 percent increase.
The board is expected to vote on these hikes next year.
