Amid raging fire, Red Cross volunteers head West to help
Several Red Cross volunteers from Connecticut have headed to California to help the victims of the recent wildfire.
There are five volunteers from the state out west serving meals to hundreds of people who had to flee their homes. The Bridgeport Red Cross says more local volunteers could soon be on their way to help as well.
Red Cross Disaster volunteer Mark Rozelle says it's great to help, but hard to leave the people.
"You're there to do a job and then you have to leave before it’s complete," says Rozelle. "And so you just feel like you should be doing more, but you just run out of time and run out of resources and we just can’t be there for the whole thing."
The Red Cross is looking for monetary donations for victims of the California fires. To donate, go to redcross.com.
