Thousands of participants took part in the 11th annual Long Island Run for the Warriors in Lindenhurst Saturday.
The event raises money for local veterans and their families through the nonprofit Hope for the Warriors.
The race is a 10K, 5K and a one mile walk or run and features civilians and military members.
"The town of Babylon really comes together to help us put on this road race," says Robyn Womac of Hope for the Warriors. "It takes a lot of not only the volunteers, but the city officials, the munipalicity, the police officers, firefighters."
The event raises hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.
