‘Thunderous boom:’ House collapses during lifting process

What was supposed to be a routine home raising job in Babylon ended in destruction Friday and left one worker injured.
The Village of Babylon says a home on Copper Tree Lane was in the process of getting raised around 9:30 a.m. when a lifting jack in the rear corner of the home failed.
DRG House Lift was lowering the home onto its new foundation at the time of the incident.
Officials say six workers were inside at the time, and one suffered a possibly fractured leg. Everyone else inside was able to get out OK.
One neighbor described the sound of the house collapsing as a thunderous boom. He then heard the sound of a worker calling for help.
The village has deemed the home unsafe and says it will need to be demolished.
Representatives for the contractor didn't want to comment to News 12 after the accident.
