Republican incumbent Rep. Lee Zeldin says flyers from the campaign of Democrat Perry Gershon are vile and disgusting.
The flyer shows a picture of a coat hanger and reads "Lee Zeldin's plan for health care." Zeldin is pro-life.
"Perry Gershon launched his campaign stating it was due to similarities in his head between Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler of Nazi, Germany, who murdered 6 million Jews and millions of others. That was one heck of a disgusting opening argument and this is one heck of a vile, disgusting closing argument," Zeldin wrote on Facebook.
Just yesterday, Gershon campaign signs were defaced with the words "baby killer" and "gay lover." Both candidates called for the anger and hostility to be toned down.
Gershon's campaign responded with a statement that said, “Lee Zeldin's record on women's health is abysmal, and he shows contempt for women's equality. While our imagery may be jarring initially, the facts behind it are far more dangerous."
