It was the kind of storm Freeport residents say they've been fearing since Superstorm Sandy.
The Nautical Mile's iconic Woodcleft Avenue was left underwater after Saturday's nor'easter brought rain, wind and flooding to Long Island.
Village Mayor Robert Kennedy told News 12 that Saturday’s floodwater may be the worst since Sandy hit six years ago.
“It's probably one of the highest, if not the highest, I've seen,” he says.
In Island Park, a fire broke out on the Long Island Rail Road track when floodwaters reached the electrified third rail. Residential streets there were also left underwater.
Neighborhoods were also drenched in Long Beach, Riverhead and Oyster Bay.
