Cheerleading team holds fundraiser to help pay for nationals trip
A Throgs Neck cheerleading team is taking the new season by storm with some help from the community.
The Preston High School team held a fundraiser Sunday to help them pay for the costs of a trip down to Florida for the nationals.
The event, which cost $10, featured local food trucks, treats and pumpkins.
Organizers say the total price for the flight, room and board for nationals can be around $30,000, which is around $1,400 per person. They say nationals is very important to the motivated cheerleaders, and that's why they hosted the first fundraiser of the season to help them afford it.
The nationals will be held in February down in Orlando.
