Officials: East Meadow woman charged with DWI after 8-car crash in Melville

MELVILLE -

An East Meadow woman is accused of driving drunk following an eight-vehicle crash on the Long Island Expressway.

It happened in the eastbound lanes near exit 49-North in Melville around 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Police say two cars collided, setting off the chain reaction crash. 

Investigators tell News 12 that Suzanne Butler's minivan skidded to a stop under an oil tanker and got stuck.

She was charged with DWI.

Butler and five others at the scene were treated for minor injuries.
