Police issue Kings Park Psych Center warning ahead of Halloween

Posted: Updated:
KINGS PARK -

State police are warning people to stay away from the abandoned Kings Park Psychiatric Center.

Officers will be stepping up patrols in and around the area Halloween weekend, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 30 until Nov. 1. They will be both on foot and in patrol cars.

There will also be travel restrictions in place, specifically on Kings Park Boulevard. Only vehicles with an appropriate reason will be allowed on the roadway during that time.

The former psychiatric center attracts thrill seekers who explore the grounds and is considered by many to be the scariest place on Long Island.
