The pipes that carry drinking water to Point Lookout on Nassau County's south shore are being upgraded.
Crews will be replacing 500 pipes that connect the water main to the service line with copper starting next month.
The goal is to get ahead of any potential issues that could be caused by the pipes, which were installed in the 1920s.
This project is being done using a state grant.
