Nassau County's top leaders issued a powerful message amid Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Nassau District Attorney Madeline Singas and County Executive Laura Curran filmed a public service announcement in Lake Success Tuesday.
They say people in violent relationships often feel helpless, but that there are people ready and willing to help.
The county says the police department responds to thousands of domestic violence calls each year.
