Pedestrian injured in New Cassel hit-and-run

Police say a pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in New Cassel.

According to police, an unknown driver was traveling eastbound on Broadway when they struck a male victim, 61, who had fallen into the roadway.

The operator left the scene of the accident and continued to travel southbound without attempting to render aid or call 911.

The victim was found by a passerby, who contacted police.

The victim was transported to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
