Arraignment held for man accused of attacking 2 B15 drivers

Transit workers stood united at a Brooklyn court, vowing to make sure a man accused of attacking two bus drivers is punished.
Andrew Chandler, 46, was arraigned Thursday. He is accused of attacking two B15 bus drivers over the summer.
Chandler's lawyer argued that his $30,000 bail should be reduced, saying his client does not have a record and no warrant history. The judge refused to oblige.
Police say on Aug. 23, Chandler was riding the B15 when he sprayed Mace at a driver before getting off. Then later that day, he went back on a B15 bus and did the same thing. The alleged attacks sent the driver and two passengers to a hospital.
Chandler is facing several charges, including assault and reckless endangerment.
Union representatives say the two bus drivers have not been back to work since the incidents.
Tony Utano, president of TWU Local 100 spoke for his members, saying, "Anybody who attacks a transit worker is going to deal with the TWU. We ain't going away and we are going to make sure the person is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
Chandler's next court date is scheduled in November.
