A cinematographer says someone stole thousands of dollars’ worth of his equipment during a charity event Sunday at Lido Beach.
Dan Marquardt was filming Dee Snider’s Ride for Melissa's Wish, a charity motorcycle run, when someone stole $15,000 worth of his audio and video equipment.
“I found my tripod on the ground and all of my equipment missing, from my Canon 7D to all the accessories and batteries, lens,” says Marquardt. “As you know, some of those lenses are more money than the camera itself.”
Marquardt was shooting the charity event for free, as he has done for the past 12 years.
He says he lives by the ideology of Superman -- to be something better than ourselves, and to give back.
Marquardt says he's collected his equipment over the last 12 years and all he has left is his drone and cellphone. He just hopes that this person has a change of heart and returns his equipment.
“I just want the equipment back. I don't care who you are, I'm not even looking to press charges,” he says.
