Police: Centereach man drove high on drugs, critically injured pedestrian

A man is accused of driving while high on drugs and critically injuring a pedestrian in Nesconset.

It happened on Rosevale Avenue near Smithtown Boulevard in Nesconset around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Police say Jesse Santucci hit Kevin Hartnett, who was walking on the shoulder of roadway.

The 26-year-old Ronkonkoma man was hospitalized in critical condition.

Santucci is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220 TIPS.
