Police: Passenger killed after driver fell asleep at the wheel in Hicksville

HICKSVILLE -

Police say an Elmont man has been killed in a Hicksville crash.

According to police, the driver of a Mercedes fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle struck a parked tractor-trailer on Broadway near Lee Avenue around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, police say. Detectives say the passenger, Eric Faucault, got out of the car and collapsed after the crash.

Faucault was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say the 26-year-old driver had fallen asleep.

The Mercedes has been impounded for brake and safety checks.
