Forecast: Rain begins to taper off across LI

Heavy rain impacted the morning commute across Long Island.

A total of one to two inches of rain was seen in some areas. 

News 12 meteorologists say rain is tapering off west to east. Drier weather is expected this afternoon.

Cloudy skies will give way to breaks of sunshine after 4 p.m. with highs near 65 degrees.

For Saturday, expect mostly sunny skies with a few passing clouds. Temperatures are expected to be between 70 to 75 degrees.
