DIX HILLS -

A California man was killed on the Island in a bizarre and tragic accident involving his daughter in Dix Hills.

Police say Jose Marroquin was hit by flying debris when a car collided with the trailer of a box truck last night on Heather Court.

Officials say his daughter was backing onto Carlls Straight Path when the trailer was hit by a Honda.

That caused an object to hit the 68-year-old.

The driver stayed at the scene.
