Police say a man has died and a woman is in critical condition after an attempted murder-suicide in Centereach.

According to police, the man and woman were found in a car around 8 p.m. Tuesday on North Washington Avenue.

Police say the male shot the woman and then shot himself.  The woman survived, but is hospitalized in critical condition.

Both the male and female are 48 years old and from Coram.

There is no word on the identity of either person or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
