Residents in Coram say they have found what appears to be a crack pipe dispenser in front of a busy shopping center and bus stop.
The dispenser labeled "Pens" sits just behind a Middle Country Road bus stop and in front of the Coram Commons shopping center.
For $2 in quarters, it seems that a crack pipe can be bought in the dispenser.
No one knows who put it there, but there's a phone number on the back that News 12 decided to call. A recorded message said: “The number you have dialed has calling restrictions that have prevented the completion of your call."
Town of Brookhaven Councilman Michael Loguercio, Jr. told News 12 that there's an active investigation into the pipe dispenser and who could be behind it.
"The dispenser alone is illegal. Like any other structure if someone were to construct anything on the right of way they'd have to get permits, they'd have to get a site plan. So that in itself is illegal, then obviously what it's selling is not anything that I want in this community whatsoever,” he says.
Loguercio is urging people in the area to be patient as the investigation continues.
Police say that the Town of Brookhaven responded to News 12's report by removing the dispenser. It's still not clear where it came from in the first place.
