Suffolk police released new pictures of the suspect they say gunned down a man inside a Port Jefferson pool hall in July.
Albert Luis Rodriguez Lopez, 27, was killed in the gunfire after a fight between him and another man. Suffolk police say they have identified the suspect as 36-year-old Alejandro Vargas Diaz.
Albert's fiancée Kimberly Cruz says the two men were friends.
“Always friendly, never had an issue with each other,” she said. “I honestly don't know what lead to that night.”
Police say Vargas Diaz could be on the run and has ties in Queens, Brooklyn, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Neighbors say they are glad police have finally identified the person who may be responsible for Albert's death.
Kimberly Cruz says Albert's murder has left his three children fatherless. She hopes someone knows where Vargas Diaz is.
“We want this man found, put away… We need justice,” says Cruz.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information about the suspect’s whereabouts. Authorities are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
