A Uniondale man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison for stabbing his wife in October 2015.

Michael Taylor hit his wife in the head with a metal pole and stabbed her with a meat cleaver. Prosecutors say the 53-year-old victim escaped with the help of her daughter.

Prosecutors say Taylor hid from police for two hours before they found him in a basement wall space.

The victim needed several surgeries as a result of her injuries.
