A Suffolk massage therapist turned himself in to police Tuesday after being accused of sexually abusing a customer at a Bayport day spa.
Matthew Widener is accused of inappropriately touching a 34-year-old woman while he was massaging her earlier this month at Karasmatic Day Spa.
Defense attorney John Halverson says his client entered a not guilty plea and denied the charges.
“It's a B misdemeanor. We look forward to fighting these charges going forward," he says.
Widener had no comment for News 12.
News 12 went to the spa on Montauk Highway in an attempt to speak with the owners about the accusation. Upon arrival, the lights were out and a note on the door read “be right back.”
When News 12 called the business, someone answered the phone but hung up.
Police say Widener was fired from the day spa. Detectives are urging anyone else who believes they may have been a victim to contact them.
Widener is due back in court on Sept. 4.
