The mothers of four young girls who were allegedly sexually assaulted at Splish Splash last week are asking the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office to take over the investigation.

The mothers, who asked not to be named, held a news conference Tuesday at the office of their attorney in Huntington.

The girls, ages 11-13, were at the Calverton water park with a group from the Huntington YMCA last Tuesday. They were allegedly groped by a group of men in the wave pool, and then told their camp counselor.

Camp staff then alerted Splish Splash security, who located and removed the men from the water park. The mothers say security did not take their names or alert police. Riverhead police were called by one of the mothers after she was alerted about the alleged incident.

At the news conference, the mothers said Splish Splash is trying to cover up the incident and police aren't doing enough.

"The park, intentionally, does not have cameras in the wave pool area in an effort to avoid accountability for such incidents. The wave pool is a pedophile's paradise, and Splish Splash is ensuring that it stays that way,” said one of the mothers.

Splish Splash told News 12 that it takes guest safety very seriously, and it is working closely with the Riverhead Police Department.

The mothers of the alleged victims and their attorney said they are not planning on filing any civil actions just yet.

“We are not looking to file a lawsuit right now. We are more interested in getting to the truth and identifying these individuals,” said attorney Christopher Cassar.

The Suffolk DA's office said Tuesday afternoon that it is joining the investigation.

Riverhead detectives said they are in the process of releasing a Crime Stoppers alert that could include video of the suspects in the case.
