New York getting commemorative 9/11 license plate

New York is getting its own commemorative license plate honoring the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
The bill was sponsored by state Sen. Kenneth LaValle and signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
"It's a great way of us honoring people who lost their lives there," LaValle says.
The plate is yet to be designed, but concept art is available on the senator's website. It's expected to be similar to Virginia's commemorative plate, but with a slightly different logo.
A $25 annual fee will be charged for the commemorative plates. The money will help family members of Sept. 11 victims pay for college.
John Feal, a 9/11 first responder who now runs the Feal Good Foundation, says he'd have liked to see the passage of other laws that help those who have fallen ill since working at Ground Zero and their families.
It's unclear when the plates will become available. The DMV must first come up with the official design.
