The Hempstead elementary school that was hit by lightning, sparking a fire, will not be ready for the start of school, according to Newsday.
A week ago, the Prospect Elementary School sustained major damage after a lightning strike.
News 12 has learned officials are scrambling to find temporary classrooms for 600 kids.
School officials are looking to see if private or charter schools have extra classroom space.
