New Yorkers got a taste of the first round of a 15-month L train shutdown between Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The subway line shut down between Manhattan and Broadway Junction this past weekend.
It was the first shutdown in what is expected to be several consecutive weekend shutdowns as the MTA continues repairs in preparation for the Canarsie Tunnel project shutdown in April which will last a year.
The tunnel needs to be repaired after Superstorm Sandy destroyed a significant portion of it.
Commuters rejoiced Monday after the station reopened.
They say they had been using shuttle buses at Broadway Junction to access all the L train stops heading into Manhattan over the weekend.
The MTA says it will happen at least 14 more times before the yearlong shutdown in April 2019.
