Advocates rallied in Park Slope Wednesday to call on lawmakers to bring back school zone speed cameras.
Members of the New York City Office for People with Disabilities and teachers gathered outside M.S. 88 to put pressure on Albany to call on the New York State Senate to re-authorize and expand the speed camera program. The city's authority to operate 140 speed cameras around school zones ended two weeks ago when the Senate failed to bring the bill up for a vote before the deadline.
Advocates say people are going to die if action is not taken. They say with school starting soon it is critical to have the cameras in place.
