Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole from a Stamford church.
Video footage shows the suspect inside St. John's Episcopal Church on Main Street in Stamford.
Rev. James Wheeler says multiple cellphones and over $500 were stolen on several occasions. He says the man in the video has stolen from the church multiple times, starting back in October and most recently in May.
Stamford police have now released the video and are asking for the public's help in identifying the alleged thief.
Since the slew of incidents, Rev. Wheeler says he's had to seriously increase security measures. Church doors now remain locked and more security cameras have been installed.
"We want the place to be open," Rev. Wheeler says. "We want people to be able to come in, people come in at all times of day and pray. For the moment, at least, they have to come through the office to get there."
Rev. Wheeler says they're currently working with police and hope to see these incidents come to an end.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
