COLORADO -

A Colorado Springs Police Officer from Long Island is in critical condition this morning after a shootout.

Cem Duzel, who grew up in Manorville, was shot Thursday morning in Colorado.

The incident happened as the 30-year-old was responding to a call of shots fired.

Police say Duzel was shot by a man who began shooting at officers when they arrived.

Duzel's brother from East Moriches told Newsday his brother is stable at the moment.

Officer Duzel is a five year veteran of the Colorado police, according to their Facebook page.
