The Greenlawn man who fell victim to a hit-and-run in Huntington early Thursday morning has died, police say, and a 17-year-old girl faces charges for allegedly leaving the scene.
Sair Rodriguez, 32, was walking on the shoulder of Broadway at the intersection with Legacy Court when a southbound car struck him and left the scene, according to authorities.
The Greenlawn Fire Department took him to Huntington Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died.
Detectives were looking for a blue Hyundai Elantra. Nine hours later, they arrested Veronica Borracci, a 17-year-old from Dix Hills.
She graduated Commack High School in June. News 12 has discovered a YouTube video in which she discusses the moon and its phases for a Science Ambassador Scholarship.
Now she faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Her arraignment is Friday morning in Central Islip.
