Longtime caretaker of the Montauk Lighthouse, Margaret Winski, says she is ready to move on.
After 31 years, the 62-year-old says she is moving out of the lighthouse.
According to The New York Times, Winski has been living in the 222-year-old lighthouse since 1987, when the U.S. Coast Guard moved out of the property.
Winski lived at the lighthouse for free as the caretaker, but worked at the local post office to pay bills.
She says she'll now fulfill her longtime dream of moving to Maine.
Winski will be replaced by Joseph Gaviola, a 63-year-old Montauk businessman and member of the lighthouse board.
