Police are searching for a suspect after a fight led to a fatal shooting at a Port Jefferson pool hall.
Investigators say 27-year-old Albert Luis Lopez Rodriguez, of Selden, was shot and killed inside of Billiards DBM on Main Street around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police say an argument broke out in the back of the hall before the shooting, but the circumstances of the dispute remain under investigation.
Detectives were at the scene through the night and again Monday morning. A front window at the pool hall was left shattered, with glass covering the sidewalk.
Neighbor Dawn Milano says she rushed out of her nearby apartment when she heard the gunfire. She says the victim was her friend.
"Me and my son are heartbroken. It's horrible, especially because we live over here," Milano says.
Some longtime neighbors say they are not surprised to hear about fighting in the area, but some say they are now worried about their own safety -- especially those who live in second-floor apartments above where the shooting happened.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
