Local leaders highlighted the Drug Take Back Act on Friday in East Meadow.
The new law was created to make it easier for residents to turn in unused prescription medications instead of keeping them or flushing them into the water supply.
Under the law, pharmacies will also be required to provide customers with a way to drop off their unused pills. Nassau police say drugs can also be turned in at local precincts.
