Officials: Man found dead after Massapequa fire had fatal gunshot wound
A 66-year-old man was found in the garage of his Massapequa home with a fatal gunshot wound after multiple fire crews responded to a raging fire at his home.
In video obtained by News 12, flames were seen shooting out of the front window of a home on The Link around 4:35 a.m.
According to officials, six departments responded to the scene and three firefighters suffered minor injuries.
Police say the man, whose name has been withheld, was found with a fatal gunshot wound, but it appears to be non-criminal.
A neighbor told News 12 that the unidentified victim was a “really nice guy” who would be missed in the community.
