Residents learn kitesurfing

Most schools are out for the summer, but not at the New York Kiteboarding School.
Students as young as 11-years-old learn how to ride the winds and waves right off the coast of New York City.
It's more of an extreme way to enjoy fun in the sun, with individual and group lessons available, wind and weather permitting.
Instructors are all certified by the International Kiteboarding Organization.
Kitesurfers also say it's a great core-building workout.
Instructors say it takes on average, three two-hour sessions for their students to fly solo.
The school offers classes in Breezy Point, Seagate, Oak Beach and Rockaway Beach.
