MASSAPEQUA -

Police say there's been an increase in the number of drug overdoses in Massapequa, and they're blaming a potentially lethal batch of heroin.

Police say there have been six overdoses in Massapequa in just the past 13 days and one person died.

Police suspect the heroin could be laced with a high concentration of the painkiller fentanyl.

Experts say it's easy to get drugs into Massapequa.

Community leaders want neighbors to help police look out for each other and educate children.
