A Mount Sinai family has decided to make a Suffolk police officer their son's godfather after he saved the newborn’s life.
Bryce Pappalardo was born unexpectedly at the family's home last summer.
Officer Jon-Erik Negron sprang into action after the baby was not breathing following the delivery.
"Looking through the kitchen, trying to find something to clear the baby’s airway, a plastic syringe. We were able to clear the baby's airway and he started breathing and, it was the most unbelievable thing," said Negron.
Baby Bryce was baptized June 23 at Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Port Jefferson.
